Clinical Administrator, Shelia Johnson Clinic
The University of Virginia's Curry School of Education invites applications for a full-time, clinical administrator for the Shelia Johnson Clinic. The clinic administrator will provide overall direction and oversight of clinical services, training, and research activities of the Clinic; coordinates integrative efforts for existing programs and services; represents the Clinic throughout the University and the community; coordinate clinical training with academic units; negotiate outreach contracts; engage in development activities on behalf of the Clinic; and guides the implementation of financial, operational, and personnel activities that support an environment conducive to best practice in clinical care, excellence in education and training, and high-quality clinical research.
Duties will include the following:
Establish and implement procedures for compliance with all University policies governing all aspects of fiscal operations including operating budgets, fees, billing, and managing explanations of benefits (EOBs), an equitable, objective, and verifiable rational for setting a sliding fee in exceptional cases.
Establish, implement, and monitor policies and procedures governing business operations as well as clinical operations consistent with all applicable federal, state, university and local health regulations (e.g., HIPAA education documentation and compliance; FERPA; record maintenance; universal precautions; CPR).
Negotiate and maintain service contracts, negotiate and maintain reimbursement contracts, and negotiate and maintain student placement contracts.
Plan, implement and evaluate efficiency of existing operations, systems and procedures. Assess productivity. Establish and asses quality-assurance protocols. Establish marketing strategies.
Assure fiscal stability within the parameters of sound clinical care and education.
Approve all expenditures for Sheila Johnson Clinic.
Lead strategic planning to determine (a) what criteria new clinical offerings must meet for approval, (b) new clinical services, and (c) how best to market those new services.
Establish a policy and practices for integrating clinical research protocols without interrupting clinical schedules for services.
Assure consistent and high-quality customer service and resolve customer questions and complaints.
Maintain an environment that supports best practice in clinical care.
Ensure the research infrastructure of the Clinic is adequate to support quality clinical research.
Establish cycles for purchasing equipment and technology as well as maintenance, calibrations and repairs.
Supervise credentialing, privileging, orientation, and continuing education of all staff, hiring, professional development, and performance evaluations of all staff.
Represent and promote the Sheila Johnson Clinic on Curry School committees, community organizations and to the general public.
Collaborate with clinic directors and chairpersons in planning, development, marketing, and implementation of existing and new service initiatives consistent with the goals of the Curry School of Education.
Required Qualifications:
Masters in Business Administration; Masters in Health Administration with previous experience in healthcare operations and/or directing a health and human services center; or an advanced degree in health and human services administration with previous experience directing a health and human services center.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
- Economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
- Principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
- Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
