General Professional Development Non-Degree Studies
General Studies Professional Development allows individuals who have not been admitted to a degree or licensure/endorsement program to enroll in classes taught in the Curry School.
If you have earned at least a baccalaureate degree and wish to take an on-Grounds course (in Charlottesville through the Curry School) during the fall or spring semester, you must complete a Permission to Enroll Form prior to the start of classes. See the academic calendar.
To enroll in classes you must:
- Complete a Permission to Enroll Form each fall and spring semester you intend to enroll in classes. Please note that registration for summer classes is handled through the Summer Session Office.
- Have an official transcript on file in the Office of Admissions, indicating receipt of undergraduate degree.
- Have an In-State Status Form on file, if eligible for in-state tuition. (This form must be received to be considered for in-state tuition.)
- Submit the appropriate Special Tuition Form each semester you intend to take only one course that does not exceed three credits:
- Submit your paperwork to Sheilah Sprouse in the Office of Admissions, Curry School of Education, by mail (P. O. Box 400261, Charlottesville, VA 22904) or fax (434-924-0888).
After we receive your paperwork, we will send you an email that explains how you will register for class.
Interested in Pursuing a Degree?
Professional Development students interested in being considered for a degree program must submit an online Application for Admission by the deadline specified for the program of interest along with supporting documents--application fee, goal statement, 2 letters of recommendation, official transcripts, official test scores, and other materials required by the program area of interest. Up to 6 graduate credits taken at UVA or another institution may be applied toward a degree, if coursework is approved by program-area faculty.
